Restaging

The Show Must Go On was premiered in September 2000 at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg by its Ensemble and, a few months later, in January 2001, by my company at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris. A long world tour followed. During a tour in Melbourne in 2003, I became aware of the threat of global warming and thought that rather than flying the twenty performers around the world, only two of them could travel to re-stage the piece with local performers. This would greatly reduce the carbon footprint of the piece. Two performers from the original cast, Dina Ed Dik and Henrique Neves, became responsible of this work. A few years later, in 2019, after I decided, for ecological reasons, that the company won’t fly anymore, the idea came up to produce a score of the piece allowing any local artistic team to re-stage it. The result is a text in English, written by Dina Ed Dik and Henrique Neves, describing the piece and the process to re-stage it as best as possible. Technical informations are also provided.
